I can only say one thing about my cake, it was besides beautiful, just decadent. there was no cake left after the wedding, my guests couldn't stop going for second servigs at the cake table!
Jennifer made a beautiful cake design with a cascade of flowers matching my table arrangements and she incorporated a coat of arms that I had created especially for our wedding. The cake was elegant and delicious, worth every penny!

We wanted something different. Windy City asked what we wanted and created a cake just for us. It was delicious!!!

We went to our cake tasting several months before the wedding, and when we set up the appointment the one cake we had specifically asked to taste was red velvet. There wasn't any red velvet there, but we were told that it's the exact same as chocolate, which we did taste, so we let it go and ordered the red velvet anyway. We paid a deposit and were given a specific date to come in and pay the rest of the balance before the wedding. When that date arrived (and we made the trip into Glenview even though we don't leave very close) we called the bakery, and Jennifer answered and told us that they were closed that day. We explained that we had the final payment, per her request, and she suggested that we mail it in instead of dropping it off. Jennifer only charged us for the number of guests we anticipated although the cake served more people, and the day of the wedding it was on time, set up, and exactly what we asked for. It was a very good cake, too. Even so, between the aforementioned problems and the repeated difficulty we had getting ahold of Jennifer by phone, I most likely would not recommend or use Windy City Cakes again.

The only problem we had with them was we paid $25 extra to have roses put around the cake and when we walked in the room we noticed they were not there. It didn't ruin our day at all but the cake looked plain, white with pink frosting around the edges. THe cake tasted great but the missing flowers make me not want to go back to them again if I'm planning a big event. If I don't care how my cake looks I would def. go back to eat what they make!

The person we met with at the cake tasting was very helpful. We went with centerpiece cakes (where each guest table had a small wedding cake and the head table had a two-tiered cake - which was a great suggestion from the person we met with) and traditional designs. It worked wonderfully and the cakes tasted great, we had many compliments at how great it tasted! The cake is very delicious if it's at room temperature. (This will be great for the wedding, but at the tasting it was still cold and didn't taste as well.)

Windy City Cakes was great. The cake tasted amazing, even many of guests commented that it was the best they ever had. The design of the cake was just what we wanted. Jennifer was really great to work with. She met with us when it worked in our schedules and really was able to put together a design and a cake that was exactly what we imagined.

I loved the taste of the cake, but the buttercream was melting by the time we got to the reception venue. Our cake designer had gotten to the venue right on time, and we were running late due to portraits at the church. Your wedding day always runs a little late, they say, so although the buttercream tasted amazing, it wasn't holding up well for us. Also, I wish the baker was a little bit more flexible with her time and waited for the florist. The florist was doing her best to get to the venue right after the ceremony, but the cake designer left before the florist could arrive. The florist ended up decorating the cake, which was ok, but I felt that it wasn't what we had planned with the cake designer.

Jennifer and her crew at Windy City Cakes did an excellent job on both my wedding cake as well as my 12 centerpiece cakes. (We put a cake in the center of each table for our guests to partake in.) We chose the following flavors and all got rave reviews: Dreamsicle, BaileyÂ’s Irish Cream and Chocolate Diva. I would use Jennifer and Windy City Cakes again for any event! She went above and beyond!

Long story short I ordered a multiple tier cake with the bottom tier as traditional "wedding cake"/peach filling and the top tier Red Velvet/Bailey's. The bottom tier would be used for the cake cutting and be served as our "wedding cake" and the Red Velvet cake would be served as a dessert cake later in the evening. It wasn't until I got to the reception that I was told there would be no Red Velvet cake since I didn't have the budget for it!!! My cake was paid in full prior to my wedding and Jennifer, the owner, told me that Red Velvet cake was simply chocolate cake with red food coloring! How much of an extra budget does that require? Anyway both tiers of my cake were chocolate, not "wedding cake" or Red Velvet. They did send a small sheet cake of "wedding cake"/ peach filling but it wasn't enough to serve all of my guests. In addition to that, when the hall was moving the cake to the kitchen to cut it, it slid and nearly landed on the floor, thankfully I along with my husband and our photographer were there to catch it because the "back-up" cake that she says she makes in case something happens to the first cake was a no show. Obviously, it was a disaster but I assumed that she would be apologetic about it but I got the exact opposite. When I told her what a mess it was she said, "So I owe you for 15 slices of the cake with the peach filling? I'll credit your card." I was shocked at her response, it's not like she could have turned back time but I didn't even get an apology. On top of that I had to call her 5 times regarding my refund because she took FOREVER to send it. She dodged several of my calls, gave a laundry list of excuses as to why it was taking so long and when I became frustrated with her she implied that I was impossible to please. The cake was good but not worth the misery. NIGHTMARE TO DEAL WITH, STAY AWAY!!!Â

Tastes as good as it looks is right on the money. We had a 4 tier wedding cake with alternating layers of Strawberry Daquiri cake (real strawberry filling) and lemon cake (cream filling). The grooms cake looked like a poker table and was dark chocolate soaked in Bailey's. Jennifer did a fantastic job and the cakes were the best I have ever had. It was nice that she bakes a complimentary small round cake on our first anniversary though I'm sure that even after a year her cakes would be awesome!
