Sweet Mandy B's bakery

My husband was in charge of all the details for our wedding cake since he loves sweets, but we were really hoping to pay under $600 for a cake. He found Sweet Mandy B's and we set up a tasting. It was the first place we visited for a cake and the last! The tasting was absolutely amazing. We were given 12 different cupcakes with different flavors and frostings to try. Needless to say, we took most of them home to sample later and give away but it was so much fun! All of the flavors were delicious, the cake was moist and the icing was perfectly flavored. After we talked more with the coordinator at Sweet Mandy B's and we received a price quote for our cake we were sold! Three layers, each layer a different flavor (strawberry, carrot cake, and snickerdoodle) plus a large yellow sheet cake all for under $300! The only problem is, they do not deliver the cake so we had to have family members pick it up between the ceremony and reception and take it over to the reception venue. They said it was easy to carry and transport the cake and luckily, it came over in one piece. I think you really save a lot on cost due to the fact that they do not deliver and they don't do much with the design. We just had a simple design on the cake and asked our florist to add flowers to each layer, but it turned out absolutely beautiful and our guests raved about the flavors! I am so happy we went with Sweet Mandy B's and I will go back again and again for more cupcakes, cakes, cookies, etc!

These cupcakes are amazing!!! So tasty. We drove a total of 6 hours round trip to get these cupcakes! So worth it. Everyone at my reception loved them! Sweet Mandy B's cupcakes are a must if you don't want a traditional wedding cake.

We used Sweet Mandy B's for our wedding cake, and we LOVED it! We decided to go for a non-traditional route, and had a wedding cake buffet. We had 1 "traditional" cake that was very pretty and simple and elegant. We also had 6 other smaller cakes in all different flavors, including: Strawberry, Oreo, Peanut Butter, Red Velvet...etc. They were outstanding and everyone at our wedding loved it! I think people had multiple pieces. We didn't get to save our top tier, but that's ok because we would rather just go back to Sweet Mandy B's next summer for our anniversary. The service was totally fine, as they are very laid back there. We went in for a tasting and were given 14 cupcakes to go sample on our own....it was Heaven!! The only con was that they don't deliver, so we had to hire a third party to pick up and drop off for us. At the end of the day it was totally worth it!

The thing about wedding food/cake is that unless it's either the best cake you have ever had or the worst cake you have ever had, no one will ever mention it again. People are still talking about the cupcakes four weeks later. I'm getting emails from relatives that live far away asking me to bring them next time I visit. We choose to do an assortment of lemon, red velvet, orange creamsicle, strawberry, chocolate, vanilla, banana chocolate chip, snickerdoodle and a few others. Everyone went crazy over them and the kids could barely sit through dinner as they were full of anticipation of devouring tower of awesomeness in the corner of the room. Also a plus, they have vegan treats if you have vegan guests! Whatever your occasion, I would highly recommend Sweet Mandy B's.

Love their cake and cupcakes! The cost is MUCH less than a typical wedding cake too. Two things: must arrange own delivery and had some issues in placing the order by phone. We went back and forth with multiple bakery representatives about types of filling and sizes of cakes that could be made in certain types. If ordering a wedding cake, be sure to ask for the wedding cake specialist/coordinator.

Instead of getting one big, fancy wedding cake or go for the ubiquitous cupcakes, I ordered a buffet of cakes from Sweet Mandy Bs. All in, we had 9 cakes of varying sizes and flavors--from vanilla and red velvet to carrot and lemon--including one two-tier devil's food cake with white-on-white scrollwork that was our nod to tradition. I had a great tasting there one afternoon, and they preferred that we order only a few months in advance (about 2). Everything with our order went as planned and the cake buffet was a HUGE hit with our guests! However, you should be aware that they do not deliver, so you will need to make arrangements for pick up yourself (our day-of coordinator did this for us).Visually stunning. Totally delicious!

I brought in a picture and they recreated it. It was delicious and beautiful (and economical). If they had a website/email they'd get a perfect score.

Ask a local, Sweet Mandy B's desserts are DELICIOUS. This place is known more for their banana pudding cups and cupcakes... but they're a hidden gem of a wedding cake bakery! A great value. OK OK so they were a little hands-off when it came to the customer service, but they made the most delicious cake I've ever had (Banana choc. chip cake with PB butter cream). They have a ton of designs, we went with the sugar daisies (al� Martha). Only drawback is that you have to arrange for a pickup or hire a courier for delivery. We went the courier route, and it got there safe and sound.

YUM. Now, I'm a bride that went for taste, not a fancy look. We were looking for cost cutting techniques and since some bakeries charge $8 per slice, we went for the $2 cupcake :) We went in for a cupcake tasting and after trying 12 (seriously, the BEST part of the wedding planning), we chose 3 simple choices. In order to customize the cupcakes to my wedding colors, they allowed me to bring in my own sprinkles- the fancy name for those things is escaping me- for them to use.The only reason they lost 1/2 a star is because they don't deliver, but it really was not difficult to use a messenger. They had a couple to recommend and I just made one phone call. We served the cupcakes with the coffee self-serve style after dinner so people could eat dessert whenever they wanted to, either right away or after they danced off dinner a bit. I heard from many people that only about 80% of the cake is usually eaten, but there wasn't one cupcake left at the end of the night! I heard from many people that they were the best cupcakes they have ever had. Sweet Mandy B cupcakes are worth every calorie!

Have to say the best cupcakes around! They did an incredible job, Tim was extremelly nice and generous.

The cake from Sweet Mandy B's was beautiful and the BEST wedding cake I've had. I don't like the fancy flavors that lots of people get, with all kinds of weird fillings and the fondant icing, etc. This is true homemade cake with homemade frosting, and the value is great. We got a smallish tiered cake, and several sheet cakes and the cost was probably half or less than if we had gone with a traditional wedding cake vendor. (SMB's is more mom-and-pop and is known for their cupcakes) They will do cakes for all kinds of occasions, and the only downside is that they don't deliver, which required a friend to pick the cake up the morning of the wedding. This friend was stressing about dropping the cake, etc, but in the end it all worked out perfectly.

We ordered cupcakes from Sweet Mandy B's via our caterer (Bespoke Cuisine) - in white, chocolate, and devil's food cake flavors. They were a huge hit! It didn't matter that cupcakes have become a huge wedding fad in the last several years. Everyone loved them. We took our leftovers home and froze them and ate wedding cupcakes for months afterwards. :-DMy pricing below is a guess since they were included in our contract.

We wanted a cupcake cake and Sweet Mandy B's has the best cupcakes in Chicago. They offered several choices in cupcakes (and we got some of each) but you couldn't ask for specific flavors if they didn't already make them. They also couldn't take our order until a week before the wedding, which was a bit scary, but it all worked out and the cupcakes were divine!

this bakery has the absolute best cupcakes, in my opinion (and my husband's). that is why we chose them as our cupcake vendor! we did a cupcake tree and it turned out fabulous. they were real easy to work with and incorporated our colors into their cupcake decorating. we were so happy to work with them!
