Music By Design

We loved our DJ, and he played all the music we requested. I liked how he didn't advertise his company with big signs. Our guests filled the dance floor all night!

Music by Design is FANTASTIC and so easy to work with! Jeff was our DJ and we met with him personally for the initial meeting. He explained everything very thoroughly and that we could customize as much or as little as we wanted. Other companies told us they would only allow 50 do-not-play's and would not let us "ban" a genre because someone may want to hear it (sorry, if I loathe and despise country music, I don't want to hear it at my wedding - people who want to hear it can listen on the way home). I did select a lot of songs, both to play throughout the evening and for the do-no-play list, and the online tool is very easy to use. I never heard 1 song off of the do-not-play, and Jeff was very good at reading the crowd and selecting music. My parents and I both received several compliments throughout the evening on the music and on Jeff. Pricing is also comparable other DJs we met with. HIGHLY recommended - thanks Jeff!

I would recommend Music by Design to every bride! They provided EXACTLY what they advertised -- a professional DJ. I was able to meet with our DJ, Joe, BEFORE I signed the contact with Music by Design (which was months before our wedding). The online forms that I filled out before the wedding were easy and they made our reception flow flawlessly. We had a call with Joe several days before the wedding to review all the details. We sent him several last minute changes that he incorporated without any hiccups. Joe arrived early to the country club to set up. The music was great and exactly what we talked about ahead of time. Many of our guest commented about how professional and wonderful the DJ was and the music was at the reception. Everyone was up and dancing and Joe never had to be obnoxious or talk too much. He just played music and kept the party going! I can't say more great things about this company. If you don't want to worry about your reception music then use Music by Design! And I especially recommend Joe!

Great job. Music by Design and DJ David performed exactly as promised when we had our initial meeting. He ran the reception and took a load off my wife and me. I strongly recommend them to anyone who needs a DJ service for any event. True professionals but also made the reception a lot of fun.

My wife and I got married on 11/5/11 and we had Music by Design provide music for the wedding ceremony and the reception. Overall my wife and I were extremely happy with Music By Design - the process from start to finish was excellent and I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a DJ.We looked at several DJs and had Music by Design on our short list based on other reviews we read, the estimated cost for their services, and the general vibe we got after running through their website. Once we met with them in person at their Schaumburg offices, we were sold. When the date started getting closer and we got in to the nitty-gritty details we started to use Music by Design's website planning tools to map everything out. The tools were easy to use and helped us think through the day-of events, including some things we probably wouldn't have thought about on our own.Towards the end, when all the little things were getting double and triple checked, I ended up sending quite a few emails to Music by Design with questions and specific requests. They were always quick to respond and easy to work with ... they answered all my questions quickly and met all my requests.When the wedding day arrived, we had Tim as our DJ. He was very professional and a pleasure to work with. He was helpful and accommodating and through everything that involved providing music/equipment - ceremony, cocktail hour, introductions, speeches, first dances, the reception, etc., - I didn't have to think about or worry about anything, I knew Tim had it covered and I could just enjoy my wedding. And in the most basic terms, that is everything I could have asked for.

We had Jeff as our DJ and he did an amazing job. Everyone commented on how great the music was and my bridesmaids said he did a great job getting everyone ready for introductions. He was nice, took requests and played great music. Highly recommend them!

Music By Design, did a great job at our wedding. Great DJ, wonderful price, and great service. Our DJ was so outstanding he talked with each of my bridal party attendents to see if there was anything they wanted played as well as worked with me on my unqiue song choices during the first dances. Great, great, great... highly recommend.

We had a multilingual wedding so naturally we were concerned whether the DJ would be able to mix in songs in languages he doesn't know. We were actually referred to this company by another company that would not let us choose in advance a specific DJ we would be comfortable with. Our first appointment at Music By Design was with the same DJ who would eventually perform at our wedding. His name was Tim.To handle the multilingual issue, we sent him in advance an extensive list of all the foreign songs we wanted, plus several English songs so he will be familiar with our taste. The fact that he never played many of these songs before was definitely not apparent in the party. Most important for us from the DJ was to keep everyone dancing as much as possible, and make it as worry-free experience for us. His did both things amazingly. He also made all the announcements and took care of operating the AV equipment when we wanted to show short movies. The party itself lasted for 4 hours, and if we hadn't asked him to call it a night, he would have gone on.We cannot emphasize enough how much we were happy with our decision to go with them and with Tim specifically.

Music by Design is the real deal and we were beyond pleased with everything. Jeff was our DJ and is a natural born entertainer, host and leader. He laid the foundation for celebration and created an enviroment that was a breeding ground for fun in all directions. Jeff is what every bride and groom would want on their special day to bring the music, light and laughter. From start to finish, we knew we were in good hands and could relax and enjoy ourselves.

Jeff from Music by Design was our DJ. He did a fantastic job. We got lots of compliments on the DJ, and many people said that Jeff was the best DJ they'd ever seen. Everyone seemed to have a really good time. I was concerned before the wedding, because my family doesn't really get up and dance. However, at our wedding, everyone was up and dancing! The dance floor was full until the end of the night, which was what I wanted. We didn't set the entire playlist ahead of time- we filled out our "do not play list" and put some songs on our "must play" list. I really liked that everything is online. Their website is easy to use, and it's nice to be able to fill out the forms whenever, and then go back and edit with new ideas. I also spoke with Jeff a few days before the wedding to give him an idea of what we wanted. It was perfect! I don't think he could have done a better job.

Music By Design did a great job at our wedding. Our DJ was Kyle and we liked him right away from our first meeting. Their online system is easy to use and lets you enter in “must play”, “would like to hear”, and “do not play” lists (as well as songs for all the other important moments). If you want a song that they do not already have in their library, you can request it and they will download it for you (we wanted a couple specific versions of songs for our ceremony and they found them no problem). Kyle called us the Wednesday before our wedding and went through everything in detail with us.On the day of, he played our ceremony selections just right and he did a really great job keeping the dance floor packed all night. He also pronounced everyone’s names correctly during the introductions (double-checked with us beforehand), and coordinated with us, our venue, our photographers and our videographers to handle the timing of all the events throughout the night. It went very smoothly!Overall great experience with Kyle, and with Music by Design’s management as well. Any emails I sent to them with questions were answered promptly and with good customer service.

MBD is awesome! Probably, the best service we got our our money at our wedding (09/23/2011). David was very nice and professional. He made sure everything went smoothly. He also made sure to check everyone's name pronunciation before the introductions... That was a big deal to me because the bride's name was mispronounced at one of the weddings I went to- how embarrassing. I hope that we will have our vow renewals, we'll have a party and we will be able to hire them again. Music By Design(David) made our night! 5 stars, all around!

Music by Design was by far the most professional and best DJ company I met with. I HATE cheesy DJ's that try to get a bunch of attention at weddings. In my opinion, the DJ's job is to play music and get people dancing. Joe from MBD did just that and I can't recommend him enough!! He had us on the dance floor the whole night - there was not one song that cleared the dance floor like I see at some weddings! I focused more on the Do Not Play List (and he didn't play one song I put on there, thank goodness). I only put a handful of songs on the Must Play List and let Joe do the rest of the work. I don't have any complaints and would definitely use him again if I have another even where I need a DJ!

We really put a lot of importance on our DJ, so we researched A LOT of them and Music By Design was an easy choice! After meeting with David and hearing about their philosophies and seeing the user interface for choosing music, we knew we were in the right place.Our goal for our wedding was that everyone felt like they had to be on the dance floor and that is exactly what we got. We chose some of the music but David filled in the rest seamlessly with songs that had our little cousins, friends and even grandparents dancing. It was awesome!!! We got so many complements on the DJ throughout the night AND continue to hear how good he was 3 weeks later. (Our event was 8/26/11). Another thing that was really great about Music by Design, specifically David, was how he helped orchestrate the reception and timeline. He organized everyone for introductions, helped our friends feel comfortable with the mic for the speeches and even found my toss bouquet for me to throw later in the night. I can't recommend Music by Design enough - totally worth the money, totally awesome!

Our DJ for the reception was Tony. He was just great! Our dance floor was packed the entire wedding! Our older relatives have said that they have never danced more at a wedding before. He did such a great job playing older music, newer music, slower and faster songs. Every time a song seemed to let people try to leave the dance floor, Tony changed the song so the floor stayed packed! It was so great! He was so wonderful to work with before the wedding as well. He kept everyone calm and kept the day moving along at a great pace! Thank you so much!

We wanted a great party at our wedding without anything corny. This vendor was recommended to us by a friend and we have no complaints. Fantastic entertainment for the wedding at a reasonable price.

We had Dave as our Dj and he was outstanding! We were really picky about music choices and speeches, he did an outstanding job the entire day. The ceremony sound was great and the timing of the event was great. We are really happy that we chose Music By Design. We even had several up lights and it helped to create a festive atmosphere.

Our DJ, Tony, was awesome. He kept the dance floor crowded the entire night! While I submitted the "must play" and "play if possible" lists, I specifically requested that the DJ use his professionalism to play whatever would keep the party going. He did just that! He played most, but not everything on the list, and more importantly, he played what our guests wanted to hear and it was fantastic! I would HIGHLY recommend this DJ and the company in general for its professionalism and value.

My now husband and I found Music by Design on a wedding planning website. Based on other reviews, we requested Jeff. Their overall planning process was great! We were able to select "must play" "do not play" and our specific dance songs on their site. We were able to view the top songs requested for the current time. They made everything so easy for us! Jeff was incredible! He played a variety of music that was specific to our tastes. He kept people on the dance floor from beginning to end. We got A LOT of compliments from the guests on the music and overall energy of the reception. Highly recommended!!

Music by Design made our reception rock!! We are still getting compliments about how great Steve was!! He read the crowd like a book, slowing the music down when needed and then pumping them back up again. We weren’t sure if people would want to dance since our dance floor was in a different room as our tables, but Steve drew them in and they stayed all night!! He showed up early to set up to make sure everything worked and he was courteous to all of our guests. We recommend them to anyone getting married!!!!
