I had been to Greta's store when my best friend got her wedding dress there so I decided to start there when shopping for my own dress. I found the perfect dress the first time I went there and had so much fun trying them all on. The staff was very helpful to me and found lots of dresses in the style I wanted for me to try on. About a month later, I called Greta in tears because my fiance who is in the Marines had informed me that we couldn't get married on the date we had set because of his training and we had to move the wedding up by 5 months!!! I already had bridesmaid dresses picked out and everything so I was in a panic to say the least. Greta and her staff went above and beyond to make everything run smoothly for me and my bridesmaids in the short time we had. Within 2 days, Greta had found different bridesmaid dresses for me that I loved even more than my first choice, got them ordered and delivered to the store 5 days after that. She told me not to worry about the dresses because I now had a million other things to do before the wedding that was now 4 weeks away and she was right... Greta and her staff took care of everything!! I was a mess when I called her that first day I knew about the wedding date change and by the time I got off the phone I felt calm and relaxed because I knew I could trust her to get things done. My dress was perfect, my bridesmaid's dresses were perfect and I had a wonderful wedding day!!!

Greta's has beautiful wedding dresses for an affordable price. However, their customer service is downright AWFUL. I would recommend Greta's to others with hesitancy and warning. Again, we loved the dress and the price, but they did not work with us in a professional way.

Loved my dress and it was a dress I would have never picked out had the sales person not pulled it off the rack. Dress came in in time frame promised and alterations were done quickly. Very much appreciated that they held my dress for me and were very flexible due to unplanned family concerns before the wedding. Only complaint was that the day I came in to shop for wedding dresses, I had made an appointment yet they did not have a fitting room or a sales staff person for me and we ended up trying on dresses in a poorly lit room in the back of the store that was not intended for brides.

Avoid Greta's at all costs, order online is you have to. I have heard Greta yell at her employees for going after an item I requested. She once interrupted me to try to con me into buying something I was in the middle of telling my Mom I didn't think i really needed to buy. This conversation went on for nearly 5 minutes with her pushing it like a street merchant before I had to raise my voice and tell her no. Someone once taught her about changing the band size of a bra to sometimes fit into a smaller cup size, she thinks this means it's ok to force an H cup into a C cup bra, then badger them to buy it. She lied to my face about the bras. I asked for one with places to hook bra straps and garter straps, she told me that no manufacturers made a bra with both. I went in later and the seamstress noticed that my bra showed over my dress and brought me a new one to try and then trade out, lo and behold it had bra and garter strap hooks! Greta herself would heatedly argue about what dress sizes to order. This resulted in 3/4 dresses we ordered for my wedding from her being 2 or more sizes to big. One dress was an 18W ordered for a size 2 and one was a 14w ordered for a size 6. Not only did she refuse to order even close to appropriate sizes, saying it's safer to need to take it in (and make more money off of alterations!) she tried to make us sign waivers saying that we had agreed to these sizes. Two days before my wedding one of my out of town bridesmaids goes to pick up her altered dress only to find it not done. The seamstress (probably of no fault of her own, she did not personally fit this girl) had forgotten to do it, and left the dress at her home 45 minutes away. She then refused to go get it, saying she would have it done tomorrow and bring it in then. Not an option, promises were made and broken. Needless to say we got out property back from her that day, but to be spiteful because she was angry at us for being mad that she was potentially ruining my wedding, she removed the pins. Buying a wedding dress is supposed to be a fun experience, not a miserable one. I dreaded every phone conversation and visit with this shop. There was only one employee there who was not rude and bitter. I was actually told once that I had to hurry up and finish what I was doing so they could close... in a bit over half an hour. I was trying to buy shoes at that point, without the help of an employee, so I bought shoes somewhere else. Greta and her staff seemed to bend over backwards to make my dress buying experience miserable.

I worked with Dorothy for every appointment; she was absolutely wonderful. I believe she is Greta's biggest asset! She was patient with my entourage picking up dresses left and right. She also suggested a dress that I tried on just to humor her and loved it. Ultimately, I didn't pick it, but it was beautiful and definitely my style. Greta was kinda unbearable. She was trying to be helpful, but she is very spacey. She saw the dress that Dorothy had picked out and brought a dress in that was less expensive that she thought was comparable. It definitely was not. It looked like something that she pulled right off my grandma's table. The dress I did purchase here was stunning and fit perfect off the rack, so we bought it off the rack. Dorothy called and said that Greta was going to order me a brand new one. When I went in for my fittings, we figured out that the dress was not a new one.. still the original, so we asked about the new one. At my second fitting, one month before the wedding, (I had bought the dress a little over a year out.) the new one had just come in and was the wrong color! I'm so glad that we bought off the rack! I got so many compliments on my dress and have never seen another one like it anywhere. (Our officiant said it was one of the best he's seen).

I was an out of town bridesmaid. I had just had my own wedding so I knew for sure a 16 would fit. They said that Davids bridal ran big and I would need at least a 20 but that I needed to come in and get fitted. I said I could not afford the dress and driving out there 3 times (to get fitted, pick it up, and alterations.) They did not send me a sizing chart and got very crappy with me for not getting sized. So I only went up one dress size to an 18. Then they did not order our dresses until 2 months before the wedding and the only reason they did was because the bride yelled at them. Then they said they owed us a discount because of their screw up but instead of giving me the money they would mail me my dress. That part was fine. The person I talked to said they would mail it the next day and I would have it Fri or Sat. If it was not there by Monday to call them. When I called they had no record of who I was. Had no idea where my dress was. They called someone else and said it had been mailed Monday morning. There is an EXTREME lack of communication between the staff and they write everything on random notes that get easily lost. They need to learn some organization and people skills before they try selling dresses. Also they had similar dresses as Davids Bridal, but with a higher price tag. Save yourself a headache. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!

I found my dress here, and was extremely happy with the one. The seamstress who did my alterations was excellent in service and quality of her job, but unfortunately the service in the rest of the shop was less than ideal. We were from out of town, and there were several disconnects and poor customer service.

I really liked Greta's overall but had a few issues. LEAH is the reason why I loved it. Greta is very.... flighty and spaces out. Leah was so helpful is was calming. They have a great selection of dresses for all styles, shapes, and sizes. If I ever had an issue, which I had many, they were VERY responsive to every issue. They told me not to get the veil I loved at that time because they'll have it later, closer to my wedding. NOPE! It was gone. I was so upset but still ended up, with Leah's help, a beautiful veil. My mom went to pick up my dress and they couldn't find it!!! They lied and told her that the seamstress still had it and it turns out, they called and admitted they couldn't find it and it was in the sales floor area. Yes, seriously and it was already altered and ready-to-go. I cannot hold this portion of the review against Greta's because their seamstresses are independent of the store itself, BUT the seamstresses are rude, not helpful but did a good job so I guess that matters the most...). My mom and one bridesmaid had a similar issue. They went to do their final fitting and to pick up their dresses and they were STILL pinned -- nothing done. My bridesmaid asked her WHY and my mom asked her WHY and she said, "I wanted to make sure this fit." Why didn't she call?!?! She had their dresses for over two weeks. She ended up charging my friend because she had to move the pins over since she lost weight. Can you believe that?! The dress wasn't completed at all like it was suppose to be but yet she charged her for moving pins over. Unreal.

Don't expect what you see on TV. They have dresses but you only get to see what they have in stock. They don't listen to what you want and then find a dress like you want. It's what they have or nothing at all. I found my dress there, on accident. My friend found it in the wrong sized section and the lady actually scolded her for looking elsewhere outside of my size. Good thing she did! I really liked how it turned out though. It isn't as comfortable as a place as I was hoping for on my wedding.

I bought my dress from Greta's and everyone was very helpful. The only problem was a long wait one day when I came for my fitting, but it wasn't too bad.

Greta's is great for choice and ability to provide for you wedding, but you need to stay on top of your dress and bridal party dresses. Overall, not bad for the cost and product.

The people who work at Greta's are wonderful about helping you find what you are looking for. You do not feel rushed as I have at other places. You can get dresses you have seen in magazines at prices you can afford. But Greta herself I found unbearable. The day I got back from my honey moon, I got a frantic call that one of my groomsmen had not returned his tux and that I was going to be charged for it, not the groomsman. I did not understand why she was even speaking to me about the matter. She belittles her employees in front of customers.

I shopped and bought my dress from Greta's. The whole process was awesome. They helped me make decisions and listened when I pretty mucfh loathed a certain dress. The alterations were nice to have in the same building. Only problem I had was the problem with the top of the dress My mom noticed it at the last second and I think the alterations lady should've noticed it right away. It wasnt a small problem. But the shop itself was amazing and greta gives you alot of great advice on alot of different aspect of the wedding. It was all incredibly helpful.

I bought my gown from Greta's. I was working there part time, and helping to prepare for a bridal fashion show. I saw one of the models trying it on, and fell in love with it! Greta's has a really great selection of gowns, accessories, and advice. They're the first place you think of when you live in South Bend and are getting married! My alterations were tricky because of the neckline of my gown, and had to be adjusted a few times, but turned out beautifully. Thanks to everyone who helped me!

I bought my dress and veil at Greta's Bridal, and they did a wonderful job! They were friendly, but not overbearing. They knew the business and were great at helping pick out dresses that I liked. And perhaps best of all, they are price competitive. I had fell in love with a dress at another store, but they were able to order it for me and save me about $200!They also did well with alterations. They were willing to work with me until the dress fit perfectly. They had excellent service. Greta's also has a large selection of veils and headpieces. I would definitely recommend them!

The dress was gorgous and my bridal attendant was awesome. But it was sometimes hard to get a hold of someone when I could call over the phone. And with one of my bridesmaids they sent her dress a little late.

Greta's intuition and years of experience helped me find my dress my first afternoon of shopping. I recommend her absolutely for taking that stress off your shoulders. She's also pleasant to work with and doesn't push unflattering dresses on you. If it didn't work, we moved on. The fitting process brought hidden costs, or at least costs I hadn't budgeted for. I wasn't told the price of the slip until I got to the register, so ask ahead of time if you're on a tight budget. My detachable train didn't get hemmed with the dress, so I had to tack the hem in place with thread. If you're not a seamstress, pick your dress up earlier than two days before the wedding and check little details like that. I was also a little horrified on my wedding day to find loose applique flowers in the dress bag--I don't know if they fell off, didn't get sewn back on, or were no longer needed. I also felt like I was being singled out for not wanting the employees (Greta not included) to see me in my bra. I have a medical condition I like to keep private, but I got the impression they didn't like dealing with "shy" brides-to-be. In the end, my dress looked gorgeous and so did I. The tiara I bought from her was stunning and earned me a lot of compliments. I recommend Greta's and the small shop atmosphere, but don't be afraid to consider other possibilities.

by far the best place to look for a dress. If they carry the vendor, they can order you the dress. But they have the best selection of different styles then anyone else in this area for the best price too! greta will help you find the best dress. I walked in thinking it as okay if i didnt find the right dress. Greta helped me by staying late and helping pick out TONS and TONs of dresses and reassured me it was okay she loved staying there. And my bridal consultant Sally even came to my wedding! Not only did i find a dress that had not even graced the cover of a magazine(i found it in on the cover in october my wedding was in sept.) But i found a one-of-a-kind vintage veil that had purple beading on it! Purple! they are AWESOME!

I had some problem's with a lack of communication amongst staff at Greta's. I would change my appointment with one staff member and they would not write it down, or someone would schedule me for an appointment and I would show up and it would not be on the books. Also, they completely messed up my Maid of Honor's dress order, and ordered her the wrong dress which she had to wear because there was not enough time to order the correct dress.
